Reception School Uniform

Winter uniform 

  • Royal blue sweatshirt or cardigan with school logo 
  • Pale blue polo shirt with school embroidered logo (parent option: plain light blue polo shirt without school logo)
  • Grey trousers for girls or boys and an option for a grey skirt/pinafore dress – generic item (not from a specific retailer)
  • Grey short socks for boys or girls (if wearing trousers)
  • White long socks for girls or grey tights (if wearing a skirt)
  • Shoes (not trainers or boots) – black in colour, flat heeled and sensible

Summer uniform

  •  Royal blue sweatshirt or cardigan with school logo
  • Pale blue polo shirt with school embroidered logo (parent option: plain light blue polo shirt without school logo)
  • Pale blue checked summer dress or culotte-style dress (not a romper-style please and frills/bows are not permitted) – optional and generic item (not from a specific retailer) Please note: if cycling shorts are being worn under a summer dress, these need to be shorter than the hem of the dress and must be navy or black only please.
  • Grey shorts/grey skirt or pinafore dress – generic item (not from a specific retailer)
  • Grey short socks for boys
  • White short socks for girls
  • Shoes (not trainers) – black in colour, flat heeled and sensible (sandals/peep toes are not allowed)

 

Uniform for Year 1 to Year 6

  • Grey trousers (shorts are optional) for boys and grey skirt/pinafore dress for girls – generic item (not from a specific retailer)
  • Grey short socks for boys
  • White short socks for girls 
  • Shoes (not trainers) – black in colour, flat heeled and sensible (sandals/peep toes are not allowed)

Please note: Pre-loved uniform sales take place on the school playground at regular times throughout the year.  Parents are asked to donate any unwanted uniform (washed and in good condition) to school please.

School book bags/backpacks

All children are required to bring ONLY a St Mary’s book bag or St Mary’s backpack to school. These are given to children as a gift (free of charge) when they start at St Mary’s. If your child needs a new book bag or back pack, these can be purchased from Ron Flowers, or alternatively, parents/carers have the option of sourcing a plain royal blue backpack (no larger than 40cm height x 35cm width so they can fit into lockers). No other bags/backpacks are permitted to school please (unless it is a swimming kit or after-school activity club kit).

 

PE kit for Reception to Year 6 – to be worn to school on PE days

Summer PE Kit

  • Polo Shirt- light blue with school embroidered logo (parent option: plain light blue polo shirt without school logo)
  • Shorts – Royal blue (no cycling shorts please)
  • Black pumps or trainers

Winter PE Kit

  • Polo Shirt- light blue with school embroidered logo (parent option: plain light blue polo shirt without school logo)
  • School tracksuit with school embroidered logo
  • Trainers
  • Shorts (for indoor PE) – Royal blue (no cycling shorts please)

Swimming Kit (Year 4)

  • Swimming suit or trunks (no bikinis/tankinis or swimming shorts)
  • Swimming cap for long hair
  • Towel
  • Swimming bag
  • Goggles optional

*Earrings must be removed for PE and games lessons (preferably left at home on that day).  We cannot put plasters over children’s ears so please ensure all new piercings are made at the start of the summer holidays.

 

Appearance

We require pupils to look neat and tidy at all times. Shoulder-length or long hair must be tied up.

Please be aware that the following are not acceptable:

  • Shaved designs (e.g. tram lines)
  • Rats tails
  • Mohicans
  • Hair dye
  • Hair gel or other styling products
  • Oversized hair accessories
  • Hair accessories that do not match our school colours

Jewellery

As a matter of school discipline and in the interests of children’s safety, jewellery is forbidden. Children with pierced ears may wear small gold or silver plain studs only (no diamante).  A watch is permitted (but no SMART/Fitbit watches are allowed). Please note, that any facial or body piercings are not permitted for children, following guidance from the NHS.

Nail Varnish

Nails should be kept short and clean with no nail varnish
